GPA: 99.3 Weighted. They havent released unweighted, or a 4.0 scale, but in any case I'd be a 4.0 UW.

We don't rank either, but the only other person who could possibly be ranked higher than me has a weighted average a point lower. Meh, w/e, top 5 % is what they put.

Science Research: 200 hours last summer in the Science Research Training Program - My project involved cloning a membrane protein in a tick-transmitted parasite known as Babesia divergens. My latest project is on scoliosis....entered STS of course, doing ISEF but that wont show up on the apps.

Awards/Competitions:
2006, 2007 AIME qualifier and AMC 12 winner (Yeah, I had to bring the AMC competitions to our school in 2006 since we're so isolated)
2006, 2007 NYSML qualifier
2007 USNCO semi-finalist (2nd in section, 1st in county on local exam)
2006 AP Scholar with Honor
2007 AP National Scholar

Miscellaneous: A friend (well, he's more of just a helper) and I started a business (PM or AIM @ kyoukasuigetsu5 for the name and website, since it's not worth your time going on just yet...wait a month or so) that's going to sell some marketable (believe me >_>) shirts, my book (self-published), and maybe a few tutorial videos.

Essays: Great in that I kept it mad original/real. My long common app essay was about how my major choke at the state geography Bee was actually a blessing that led to an improvement of my life in all aspects.

Recs: Both teachers allegedly gave me "top reviews", but I waived my right to see the recs, so I'll take their word for it with a grain of salt.

So yeah feedback would be appreciated

In.

Your scores are inhuman.

EDIT:
Your other credentials are similarly impossible. Have you by any chance eaten kryptonite recently?

awww... i was looking for usamo in your awards section.
which school(s) did you apply to?
in for MCS, SCS, Tepper, HSS, CIT, and IS.

Man, if I had been able to take the AMC 12B and not choked (i.e., gotten a 125+) I think USAMO would be on there =/

I only applied to CIT and MCS.

That's all I can say.

So is calling CMU a safety arrogant on my part, or should I consider it a low match?

you're a smarty pants, mister.

<-- Glad you're not applying to SCS...

I don't know what everyone is all up in arms about. You're smart, sure, and you have good stats, so you'll probably be admitted to CMU, but like.... I have plenty of friends with similar stats that were denied to many schools.

So don't go calling any highly-selective school a safety. Besides, we all know you're going to apply to your local state school... just in case.

Good luck.

^that's why I asked how to classify it earlier in the thread. I'm not applying to any state schools though.

Do you really feel the need to classify your schools? I don't like how college admissions seems to have become some sort of contest or system that you have to game to "win". Don't people believe in fate anymore? :p

You'll either get in or you won't. So the ultimate goal of this thread is to put your mind at ease, right? If that's the case, just ignore all of this and relax. No sense in stressing over what's already settled and done, even if you don't know the outcome just yet.

If you still have applications to do, just give them your all, and then don't fret any longer.

I can classify you as a match, but there's no guarantee you'll get in. I'd classify you as a match for the Ivies too, where there's even less chance. When the percentage accepted is well under 20% nothing is a match really.

Well you know chances threads are serious business. Besides, my chances thread titles are the main attraction. Who else could connect Biggie Smalls to Carnegie Mellon?

True. You must be an OG.

Am I the only one who has no idea what the hell the thread title means?

EDIT: And the reason we're up in arms about this is because we're all jealous eggheads who are envious of people with slightly eggier heads.

nice stats dude. nice job on usnco. i messed up the national test pretty bad, lol. good luck with qualifying for camp next year

"Am I the only one who has no idea what the hell the thread title means?"

Mo Money Mo Problems - classic song.

biggie. haha even I know and I don't like rap

I still haven't a clue.

Sorry, I'm not very in tune with hip-hop "culture" (if you could call it that).
