B or B+? NOOOO!

I am just trying to convey my thoughts and opinions as clearly as possible.

Whether I am in high school or college is not important.

Also, i don’t see anything wrong with my posts. I am usually nice (at least aat the beginning) and avoid ad hominem as much as possible…

This thread is so stereotypical CC.

At least OP isn’t concerned about an A-. I can at least understand why somebody reading CC might get worried about a B.

Go outside.

It is sort of important for understanding your perspective. Perhaps you were jaded by the admissions process or perhaps you are just a nervous high schooler preparing for application season.

Honestly, I think you’ll be fine. My aunt had a smattering of B’s in HS and got into USC with no problem.

“Oh my god it’s a B omgomgomgomg”

username, was that not what you said? So being sarcastic to someone who has a legitimate concern isn’t rude?

@rchhay and Sirensong, thank you for understanding. I hope you’re right. I’m applying to a selective program at USC so I’m nervous.

if you think getting a B is a “legitimate concern”, I don’t know what to say to you anymore.

the vast majority of HYPS applicants/acceptees do not have straight As.

lol… nice assumptions. Any reason in particular you think this way? Because I am neither nervous, nor was I “jaded by the admissions process”.

She went for pharmacy, which isn’t too shabby. Best of luck!

It just seems that you are unhappy with certain parts of the admissions process such as AA for URMs and sometimes respond sarcastically or rudely to people’s request for help. I really don’t know what your problem is.

EXTREMELY good ? monroylobo…
Why won’t you reveal your relative perspective username?

^ Only a few of the times I have attempted to help answer people’s questions.

I always do my best to answer questions, but thinking a single B will kill your chances is just… plain silly.

I am against AA in principle, but it doesn’t really matter to me because i can’t change it. What’s wrong with not agreeing with parts of the admissions process? Everyone has their own opinions…

Oh, btw, I know an international who got in USC this year with at least 2 Cs in grade 11, and the rest weren’t all As either.

Oh, he doesn’t have any significant ECs, had a 2100ish SAT, and is asian.

I dunno how competitive your program is, but if HYPS accepts students with Bs, I’m sure USC would too.

It’s one thing to answer questions and discuss your view and another to insult people, equate minorities with low scores to rapists/murderers, and to just generally throw anger onto things that you post. And you still won’t reveal your perspective…somebody has something to hide lol.

I’ve explained this. Analogies are analogies, they try to prove a point. If you feel offended by what I wrote, that’s completely your problem because I’ve already said that I did not mean it that way, and I can’t think of any reason to interpret it that way.

It’s easy to know what I am, if you just checked a few of my previous posts. I have nothing to hide, and never will.

So we have different opinions. That doesn’t mean I’m insulting you, or I “throw anger”. I can equally say that your posts are insulting, racist and angry too.

user: I didn’t say you were insulting me. And I didn’t say your posts were ‘racist’. I’m just saying using an ‘analogy’ that equates minorities with rapists and murderers is just a tad too far. Not to say you personally are a racist. But that that was in poor taste.
And I’m not so interested as to check through your posts and try to figure you out. I was just wondering because you seem very upset over AA and quick to sarcasm. Not that it matters, it just seems indicative of a very specific perspective.

To answer the OP: It really shouldn’t make a difference at all. The fact that you are attempting these courses and challenging yourself is more important.

Everyone has a different perspective. I agree that username was a bit unncessarily caustic in his/her replies, but whatever. If you’re going to post your worries over a B, when it IS true that the majority of people at HYPMS don’t have straight A 4.0s, you’ll probably have to suck up sarcastic comments like that.
Anyways, a “B” will not hurt you as long as the rest of your application is fine. College grading can be very arbitrary, especially if you’re in a class that to me seems subjective by its very nature. So just keep the rest of your grades up, and you should be fine.
That said, definitely don’t try to hide it, that’s illegal. It will come back and bite you in the ass.

Thanks to everyone who didn’t bite my head off, I appreciate it.
But a MAJORITY of people at HYPS don’t have 4.0’s? Really? Well, wow. Didn’t know that.
