"B"s in senior year -- how much will this affect my chances?

Hi!
I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but, I’m a senior in high school and my school is on the quarter system. We are coming to an end of our quarter, and its gonna be the last grade submitted to colleges before admissions come out.

Anyhow, this quarter has just been super hard on me and I have "B"s in all of my classes (AP Physics, AP Stats, AP Gov). Last semester I got an A in AP Physics and AP Stats and a B in Econ (we have 1 quarter gov and 1 quarter of econ). My current weighted gpa is 4.06, and the unweighted is 3.63. I had a pretty good upward trend but this just ruins it all. I’ve been really stressed and my depression has been getting worse and worse but I can’t get treatment because I don’t want my family to be even more stressed over me and my issues and at this time of year going into treatment is going to ruin my grades too. And I know those are all excuses and bla bla bla to colleges. I don’t know what to do. I’m applying to some pretty selective colleges and as a Chinese American female my odds just aren’t really great. My colleges are the UCs (minus riverside and merced), cal poly slo, USC, Cornell, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer.

So basically, what should I do about my current situtation? Should I email colleges telling them what happened? (on my common app and UC app, I already explained my sophomore year grades because of anorexia. I just feel like they’ll think I’m making excuses if I tell them my depression is getting worse and worse.) And how much would my terrible ending grades have an impact on my college admissions?

Thanks everyone

For the UC’s and SLO, rule of thumb is not D’s or F’s Senior year. UC’s and CSU’s do not use Senior grades in their admission decisions, just to keep your provisional admission if accepted.

SLO expects you to pass all a-g courses with a C or higher and maintain your current GPA (fairly flexible).

For the UC’s, you need to maintain a 3.0 weighted GPA Senior year with no D’s or F’s. For UCLA/UCB, a 3.0 unweighted GPA, no more than 2 C’s and no D’s or F’s Senior year.

Do not send any updates about grades unless you get a D or F to the UC’s or CSU’s.

what about private schools? Those are my top schools that I want to go to

Do not send updates about your grades unless the school requests it. You have performed well academically. Assuming all pieces in your profile are with acceptance rates of the schools, you don’t want to high light one B that the school didn’t consider a problem unit you mention it. You don’t want admissions wondering about that grade and what it means about you.

@zannah I don’t have any control over that – once my semester ends and grades finalized, my transcript gets automatically sent to all the common app schools (they all require mid year reports)
