After wanting to be involved with computers since I was in my preteen years, I’ve always been interested in Computer Science, I later decided to go for a more challenging degree, Computer Engineering; but now, I’ve recently decided to pursue a B.Sc. in Engineering Physics. I’m currently enrolled in a local community college taking care of as many credits as possible in order to save some tuition money up by the time I transfer to a four year institution. I know it really comes down to my career aspirations when it comes to jobs. But generally speaking, what jobs do EP graduates go for the most? I’m also taking Army ROTC Courses, so by the time I finish my bachelor’s I’ll be a commissioned 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army. My Army ROTC Representative told me that I’ll have 3 available branches to choose from: Communications, Cyber, and Intelligence. What branch would fit my qualifications (a B.Sc. in EP) the best?
Which sounds most appealing to you? None of the three are likely to engage your degree training to any significant depth, although it may be a good foundation for what you will need to learn in cyber or comms. If you wanted to transition into a career in cyber security, then cyber might be a good choice, but comms is mostly about management and intel is more about … Well, nothing to do with engineering physics.
