What are the best undergraduate business schools for indivduals pursuing a career in consulting?

Frankly, I think you have a lot of choices. You can major in Human Relations and find a firm that has a department in that type of consulting. You can major in marketing and try to get a job with firms that do college marketing consulting. Accounting and computers also also nice for consulting jobs. As you can see, you have a lot of options.

However, regardless of what you pick, get at least a 3.5 and preferable better college GPA if you want a job with a top firm.

What kind of consulting can you do with an accounting degree?

depends on what firm you are looking to work for.

a good way to find out is to visit company websites (like McKinsey and BCG) and take a look at their career page. They usually list the schools they recruit at, so that may give you some direction.

Thanks gonsenheim. I want to get a job at Mck/BCG/Bain. For college I want to go to Harvard/Stanford/Wharton.

Any ***** academic institution like the Ivies, Chicago, Duke, MIT, Michigan, Northwestern, Stanford etc... Of course, the top undergraduate B-schools also attract many MCs, especially Wharton, Sloan, Ross and Haas.

this thread forces yet another sigh from a disappointed Sternie..

Stern = Finance, Stern doesn't equal MC.
