ba in music v. bfa music theater

Hello, all ... can anyone describe the difference between a BA in Music in MT and a BFA in MT? Final decision is between two schools, but two degrees. Thanks.

No one has replied here, I think, because your question cannot really be answered with the information you have provided. I would suggest you check out the catalogs at both schools, see what each program entails. I suppose what your end goals are should enter into it as well. In any case, good luck.

Wasn’t the final decision due May 1?

Also, I am unclear what a BA in Music in MT is. Not sure I have heard of that? Did you mean BM ?

Hello … baldwin-wallace conservatory mt degree is ba in music in mt; other program is bfa.

Baldwin-Wallace is a BM in musical theater, not a BA.

I am not understanding how you are making a decision at this point past May 1 which was the deadline. So, your post is quite unclear. The rules are that you may only put a deposit down at ONE school and it must be by May 1. You cannot deposit at two schools and risk getting your acceptances rescinded if you have done that (I don’t know if you have done that?). Perhaps you just got off of a wait list?

In any case, the difference typically between a BFA and a BM in MT are the curriculums…please compare the two sets of required courses for the MT degree from both these colleges side by side. In a BM program, it is more heavily weighted toward music with some dance and acting coursework. It is a music degree after all. A BFA typically is more balanced between voice, acting, and dance. Some BFAs (not all), are located within theater departments and not music schools. That is the general answer to your question as you didn’t mention the two specific schools, just one. But even with Baldwin-Wallace, you don’t have it correct because if you were admitted to the MT program, it is for a BM (Bachelors in Music) which is NOT the same as a BA degree.
