Your SAT scores are too low for most…bring them up to 2200 to be competitive, even though the requirements for many are below that. Otherwise you should be good, especially with your internship.

Not sure if you’re looking for other programs too, but I think UCSD and Washington University St. Louis have BA/MD programs too. Their medical schools are both very excellent.

This was a tentative list but I did look up those programs as well, I thought I wouldn’t apply for them unless I could get my SAT or ACT up pretty high, GPA wise I didn’t think I qualified so I didn’t consider them.

Getting accepted to these programs is even more competitive than getting into the most selective colleges. High test scores are an important metric that they look at. I agree that your scores are likely low.

@TheEarlyBird those are two of the most competitive programs out there lol.

I agree, bring up the scores and take the ACTs. You look okay for most of the list if you bring up the scores. As I say to most people applying to programs, find something that makes you different than everybody else (URM in medicine, certain med research, EMS…) and be able to talk/write about it.

Thank you for the advice! I forgot to mention that I got a 32 on the ACT but i believe that only translates to a 2180 on the SAT so it’s still not good enough.

SAT scores are low for BA/MD programs. If you just started shadowing you’ll be behind kids who started last year or the year before.

BA/MD programs are ridiculously competitive; the students who get admitted to them began preparing for admission in 9th or 10th grade, and have usually begun hospital volunteering in 10th grade and shadowing by the beginning of their junior year at the latest. I think you’ll be an average applicant for them, but not above-average and maybe even slightly below.

You should apply to some regular BA programs in addition to the BA/MD programs.
