BA or BFA in Acting, which is better?

Hello, my son applied for the BFA in acting at PACE, at the audition he got a callback and they ask him to audition for the BA as well, now he got accepted for BA Theatre Arts-Acting program? Which program is better, any feedback (positive or negative) on either programs? TIA

Hi rdonyc,

The two programs are quite different. For example, the BA Acting program is part of our International Performance Ensemble which creates new work for an NYC and and international premiere in year one and year two, respectively. For example, this year we have three ensembles of sophomores in the BA Acting-International Performance Ensemble and they are traveling to Romania, the UK, and Brazil. Generally speaking, the BA has more experimental, devised theater/actor training than the BFA, which is a largely a unique, comprehensive, conservatory-like Acting program. Both programs, however, are four year sequences of actor training including core studio acting, movement, speech, and other required and elective courses.

I suggest coming to our Admitted Student Day and Overnight - our last one is April 11th and 12th. Here, your son will meet other BAs, participate in a Master Class with the Head of the Program, Cosmin Chivu, and be able to determine if the program and the school is a good fit. The directions to RSVP are in his PPA admission letter.

We hope to see you on campus!
