BA Theatre opportunities vs. BFA?

I was recently accepted into the BA Theatre program at Viterbo, as well as UW-La Crosse’s Musical Theatre program (in the same city, I know! ), and after comparing the classes/opportunities both offer, I’m stuck on which to choose attending. Does anyone know anything about what life is like for the BA’s at Viterbo? From what I have been finding, they have a lot of open electives and can take acting and dance classes (way more than offered at UW-L), private voice lessons, and pretty much all of the same classes as MT’s except MUTH labs. I’m just wondering if they are treated any differently or have less opportunities otherwise versus the BFAs.

I can’t help you with curriculum, but I do know of a BA girl who gave me a tour of the facilities the first time I visited and was in the black box performance of the Glass Menagerie when I visited last spring, and was in a main stage children’s theatre production of the Big Friendly Giant this year. I’ll be attending Viterbo for BFA Acting!

Thank you for the info, and congratulations! I am so torn right now–it seems like a wonderful program though, and I am definitely considering it!

It is such a wonderful environment. I can guarantee you won’t find a faculty that cares so much about you anywhere else! (Plus, have you SEEN their theatre? It’s gorgeous!!!)
