Re another post 5 boys made, i bet you are glad to be done with the testing, Well at least until the MCAT. Yikes. and regarding admission v merit, that’s exactly what I thought. As I mentioned to u at one point, kid has one accept already(!); however, for this school, their scores may be enough for merit aid or it may be too low. But then for other schools, the SAT is already enough for merit aid. Mine has a score just over 2100. What a shocker, huh??? I’m still hanging on to the transporter theory or maybe our kids are twins :)

LOL ctl!! They sure seems to be a lot alike:) I also wanted to mention that my S recently re-added LMU to his list. He won’t have time( I don’t think anyway) to apply for the EA deadline, but if he doesn’t get into his ED school will apply in the RD round. Did you visit LMU? We did but did not have a formal theater tour. I have a good friend who went to LMU with her S for their open house a few weeks ago. She said the theater faculty were giving tours of the facilities and answering questions about the program. She said her S feel in love with the faculty and the way their BA is run. They actually give classes on how to make it in the real world as an actor, or artist. I also know a girl who is freshman this year in their film program, but is thinking of switching to acting… it is that good. I guess the guy that was there is super funny and dynamic. It’s back on DS’s list now… wish I would have known that a few weeks ago, and he could of applied EA.

LMU is on the list. He too will not make the EA deadline thanks for the insights on their theatre program. I’ve been wondering about that. and yes we visited for regular tour. He liked LMU a lot, in fact, a whole lot. i would have thought the app would be done but alas, he and i are different I considered Nov 1st to be VERY SOON by early October. Not so much for the young one

5boys I have a nifty little activity you can do to take your mind off of today’s SAT test retake, EA/ED apps deadlines, rewriting the common app essay etc. You can fill out the CSS Profile. It’s just so much “fun” to spend time on and it is due to Kenyon, his ED school in less than two weeks, by 11/15. Isn’t that special? Let the party begin. :)

I just realized I needed to get cracking on it for an EA school myself. Maybe you are already on top of it but it caught me a bit by surprise.

Yuck, I have another idea. How bout we get 3 bottles of wine and kick back? 5boys son, who of course is “21” is allowed to as well(with 5boys consent) since he just took the … SAt again. Can;t wait for MORE paperwork… although ugh, since it is Kenyon, u 2 may have to wait until Nov 16th for the wine…

Well I won’t be waiting for the wine to go with my whine. I’ve earned my bottle. I’ve been working on the #$@&%!! CSS virtually non-stop since 7:30 AM this morning and just finished - close to 4 PM my time. My son is not applying to Kenyon but needed this to go to another school by 12/1. I am so looking forward to the continuing party when I start the FAFSA after the first of the year and then have to go back and revise the CSS because so much of it was a guess.

Feeling better about those essays and SATs yet? Glad that I could help. ;)

Yes… I actually started that dreaded Profile this week. Fun times…NOT!!! I have to have my H help me with the rest. It shouldn’t take too long though, because we just had to submit not too long ago for my older S’s school. It’s actually not as bad the second time around… the first time is the WORST!! The FAFSA is a piece of cake compared to the profile.

DS said the SAT was a win( at least he thinks anyway), felt very positive about it, I am proud that he just stuck to his guns, and went for it. I hope he is rewarded. Now, the only thing left to get done is that **** essay!!! I need a HUGE bottle of wine on Nov. 16th… actually probably the 11th… I want him to have it completely ready to submit by the ned of next weekend, just in case we run into any problems with the CA…

I knew you’d already be on the CSS. I did submit it two years ago for my daughter and have not had to update it since then. Unfortunately though the data changes enough that it was essentially starting over. It’s an awful lot of work for what likely will be a ticket to unsubsidized loans for us. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised by the “two kids in college” factor.

Glad that your son felt like he was in the zone for the SAT. I myself do not understand what all the flap is about the Common App. My son has applied to 5 schools so far, 4 of them through the CA and there has not been an issue at all. Switch browsers if you run into any problems but otherwise, it seems to be working.

Well it’s 5 PM somewhere and you know what that means!

ha ha haflo. Yes, you helped me feel better like i said, kind of confirmed where the non-crazy part of my mind was going on this. Agreed on the … essay. Not even sure what CSS profile is yet but I think it’s a a worse version of the FAFSA. Cant wait to take on FAFSA either esp with some self employment income and expenses to boot. Blah… Glad the SAT went well!

Drink with me
To days
Gone by
To the life
That used
To be
Let the wine of friendship
Never run dry

oh gosh, Marbleheader, I’ve had that song stuck in my head for 3 weeks now after seeing Les Mis at Otterbein…:’(

Times3 you just need to follow the recommendations in the lyrics Marbleheader provided. By morning that song, and probably everything else about your life will be forgotten. I’m testing it out right now as a remedy for my day of CSS Profiling. If I never post again, you’ll know why.

You guys are SO awesome!! For some reason I am feeling positive tonight… it is probably short-lived but I feel like everything is going to work out. Took DS out to lunch and shopping( he is a huge clothes horse) to celebrate being done with college testing FOREVER, both for him and me!!! He asked me if he could burn the College Board blue book, and I said, " Yes, go right ahead, the firepit is right out back!"

I am loving the parents of 2014!! And Halflokum, I can’t tell you how relieved I was that my son ended up NOT attending his only CSS Profile school…what a nightmare. Raising a glass now to putting those tests behind us–and good luck to your kids–I honestly am just a little nostalgic about the whole thing!

We are pretty awesome!

Well I will cop to being a bit of an interloper in this thread because my 2014 kid is not my theatre kid. But have any of you read the other CC forums? Good info to be found for sure, but there is also a heck of a lot of “chance me” to weed through. I don’t have the patience so I’m trying to sneak through as a poser over here. Once in a while I’ll say something “theatre-y” to hopefully cover my tracks. But do know, I’m a poser, so nobody should take anything I say seriously.

Times3… the aid gods were looking out for you.

So somewhere in your youth,
or childhood,
‘you’ must have done something - good.

That’s for you Marbleheader.

and haflo, u have a theatre kid (even if is not the 2014 one) plus u are making our journey better so you are more than welcome over here!!! And 5boys, glad u 2 had a fun evening to celebrate the end of standardized tests!!! and hoorah to all :)

The theme song in our house is, from Pitch Perfect, “You gotta keep your head up…I know it’s hard to remember sometimes…everything will turn out fine” It’s a good one!

I woke up this morning singing
“Drink with me to days gone by…”
First audition this week!
D off this morning for final coaching!
I don’t know what the CSS is even though I already have a child in college and now I’m afraid to know.
I’m just going to rake leaves today and perhaps bury my head in some.

CSS is a nightmarishly long financial form required by some schools. Think FAFSA on steroids.
