does wellesley offer this???
i can't find anything on their website....
other LACs i have on my list offer bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees.

some have both (bachelor of arts in comp. sci AND bacehlor of sci. in comp. sci.)

this really does make a difference.

thanks!

Hi CPU,

Wellesley only grants bachelor of arts degrees, no matter the major. So my degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences.

I’d be curious to hear what you mean when you say, “this really does make a difference.” I think you’d be hard pressed to find many (or any) students/alumnae who have had difficulties because they have a B.A. and not a B.S., regardless of their postgrad plans, whether it be further schooling or a job.

i mean it matters in terms of emphasis in coursework.
for instance on columbia’s website, for the bachelor’s of science the emphasis is on computer science and other mathematical areas whereas in the bachelor’s of arts’ focus is on a more liberal arts approach.

other school’s have stated this difference in the two degrees as well.

i don’t think computer science (or biology, physics, etc) are “arts” majors, so i don’t understand why you get a bachelor’s of arts degree for a science degree.
