Daughter got into several places all very different. Barnard, Wellesley, Emory, and a fine state school. Liked every place for a different reason. Likes sciences and arts equally. Maybe wants to go to med school. Does not want to pull a lot of overnighters. My son goes to top LAC and overnighters are common. This is not her. Emory and U of F may avoid overnighters and allow a little more fun. I went to an Ivy and remember some pretty anxious times.
Any one else struggle between the big names and not so big names?

My D, who graduated from Barnard in 2009, did not pull any “overnighters” at all, I believe. Did she work hard? YES. Did she enjoy her time in NYC? YES!!

U of F (I guess you mean University of Florida) will offer many things that the other schools on this list will not…mainly those things affiliated with College Football!! Only you and your D have any clue how that will affect her (either for good or ill) during her college career.

If she really likes Emory, maybe she shoots for that for med school and goes somewhere else for undergrad?

Just my random thoughts on the matter. Good luck to her in making the decision!

Any overnighters needed are the result of the student’s procrastination.

Swarthmore librarys are quite lit up in the wee hours and these kids are as serious as it gets.

Anyway she made her choice and it looks like there are no football games in her near future.

Congratulations! How was your daughter informed by Barnard?

Has anyone heard or been taken off the wait list for the Class of 2017 for Barnard?
