Back from the clouds

I'm an Asian male senior from California, and I'm not amazingly involved or high achieving in comparison to most of the people on this board. I attend a decent public school in a low-income suburb. I have posted this before, but now that all my test scores are in and I am almost certain as to where I am applying, I would like to know about my chances again...

I'm applying to Swarthmore, Pomona, UChicago (EA?), Grinnell, UCLA, UCSD, Occidental, and UCSC, with the possible addition of Cal. Do I have a good chance at these schools? I feel that this list might be a tad top-heavy.

oftenigmatik:

UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCSC: Safety

b u m p.....

Isn't it a bit late to be posting your questions concerning acceptances, or are you applying for the 2007-08 academic school year?

Anyway, I'd say the following:

Reach: Swarthmore, Pomona
Slight reach: UChicago EA, Grinnell
Match: UCLA, UCSD
Safety: Occidental and UCSC

I'm applying for 07-08. I meant to say that I'm a rising senior.

oftenigmatik:

Ah, that makes sense.

Well, you're looking at some great schools: Swarthmore, Pomona, University of Chicago, Grinnell, UCLA, and UCSD are all amazing. If you well ahead of the game!

What are you interested in? Perhaps that will eventually allow for a better decision of which college to attend, as I am sure you'll have some choice of school from your list.

Should you have any further questions about Grinnell or U of C, I am particularly familiar with these two institutions and can aid you with more information if you would like. I have siblings who attend(ed) these two institutions; they are both undeniably terrific places to learn.

I know that MIT isn't on your list of schools, but I go there currently, and can address questions if you have any about the place.

Good luck with your senior year and future studies.

-Tom

PS: I didn't rank UC Berkeley in my little listing, but I'd but it as a "slight reach" for you and no more than that. You have wonderful credentials.
