Can you help me? My head is stuck in the clouds.

I'm currently interested in Swarthmore, UChicago (EA?), Grinnell, UCSD, Whitman, Lawrence University (EA?), and UCSC, with the possible addition of Carleton and/or Cal. I'm looking for an intellectual, not-too-preppy, friendly atmosphere in a smaller school (or a big school broken up but not segregated). I assume that many of the schools on my list are reaches, and I'd appreciate additional suggestions. I am most interested in the social sciences, and possible majors include sociology, anthropology, history, and perhaps linguistics or French. Possible career plans include journalism, academia, and law, in no particular order.

Thank you for your time!

Alright, being Asian isn't exactly gonna help you BUT: for all the schools you listed, I think your good to go.

9.7/10 rating aka an AMAZING shot at those schools, also I recommend UChicago-EA. I'm pretty sure that it would fit your needs in "journalism, academia, and law, in no particular order".

I'm gonna have to say that you're not exactly a shoo-in for Swarthmore. It's very difficult to get into...your gpa and sat scores are good but not great, and you don't really stand out for anything. Of course it's not as hard to get into as ivy leagues, you'll still have a tough time. Do well on sat iis, get good recs and essays and all that stuff...and then you'd a have an ok shot. good luck :)
