<p>If I might reframe the question to be “Can admissions put a young person in over his head at one of these schools?” I’ll quickly answer it as “yes”. It’s been many years, but I’ve seen it happen with my own eyes. And when it does happen, it usually is happening to a very nice fellow who simply is out of his depth and element. It really varies by individual.</p>

<p>I think if such a person goes on the visit and doesn’t feel like he fit with his teammates, he may make a wise choice in going elsewhere. BTW, the teammates may not feel that way at all…just the person in question.</p>
