Backpack / Laptop Bag question? (items)

What do most college students bring in their backpack?
Do most of them bring a binder? or just notebooks and writing tools along with a handy laptop?

I don't want to offend or be rude or anything but... if you can list the stuff you put in
backpack, it would be nice...
If you don't want to name it specifically, you can like replace the item's name with something of similar weight...

Thanks...

I'm just wondering how big of a laptop bag (or messenger bag) along with a regular backpack I should get.

Actually, I’m going to major in a computer field.
What things do a computer major have?
I’m plannning to get a laptop bag for laptop itself (excluding the power cable part)
and a backpack for notebooks, pencils, etc

One notebook, a binder (which is just for keeping my music for voice class together), and a 17-in laptop that weighs about 6-7 lbs. My backpack has a laptop compartment built into it, so I don’t really need to get myself a laptop bag. All my writing tools are in my purse.

In my backpack I usually have:

-several notebooks and folders that are notes and papers for the classes I’m attending that day
-a snack of some sort
-pens and pencils
-calculator
-first aid kit
-planner
-various misc trinkets

Don’t get a laptop bag! No one uses them, my roommate had one and she switched to a backpack after her first class. Just get a backpack with a compartment for your laptop, I have an adidias that I love. That being said, I put my books, binders, pens, phone, water, occasionally food, in my bag.

Well, the main problem is if I go that route, I have a 9 cell battery sticking out of the laptop.
Here’s a picture of my laptop.

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS9VhbIxEiMM_AUO2qkVpBHfeLDcpZhr5oVcaHcdQdC9HEhaJUH

Once it’s attached to the laptop, (including laptop itself) , it’s about 2 inches thick right there.
(Having a 9 cell battery which gives about 8-9 hours w/o wifi on, it allows me to not bring that big chunky power adapter thing with me. With wifi on, it’s about 6-7 hours.)

It will fit.

I know it could fit but… the 9 cell will make it feel weird.
By the way, i’m going to major in computer engineering and or computer sci.

What do you think is a good budget for a decent backpack that will do the job with backpack and everything else? (laptop is 7 lbs sorta or more)

I’m not a person who purchases 100 dollar jeans or anything. The most expensive backpack I have so far is 20 bucks i think. Any reccomendations? Maybe a link to amazon. Thank you!
:D

I had an HP Laptop backpack. It was a regular backpack but it had a padded sleeve built in for my computer and a bunch of extra pockets for components. Just about any laptop would fit in it, my 13in was drowning in it but it had a velcro strap to make it snug. I carried my laptop, one folder, and one notebook in my backpack usually-- maybe a book or two if I needed it. I kept pens, calculator, etc in my purse-- if I were a guy those would have been in the backpack too, I guess.

It was good that I had a bigger backpack, though, because sometimes I had to carry every textbook I had at the same time if I was going to the library for the day or home for break or something. I’d rather have a backpack that’s too big and is empty most of the time than one that’s too small.

My backpack or messenger bag (depending on what I use for that day):

(Monstrous) laptop.
laptop power supply (oh, the joy of have i7 quad core processors. -__-)
three water bottles
my lunch
a book or two
pens/pencils/stationary

and sometimes. . .
Nikon D90 with a 70-200mm lens attached.

Thank god I have a ripped back.

Hope and enlightenment…Not to be confused with weed.

Honestly though, to answer this mystery question. I use a laptop backpack. Which I fill with a laptop, pens, notebooks, weed, calculator, and other school essentials.
