So engineering is my first choice so I'm going to post this here...

For most colleges, can you apply to more than one program? For example, can I apply to the College of Engineering at "ABC" college and also to the College of Science? I know that one of my schools doesn't allow that but I don't know how prevalent that rule is. I can't seem to find that answer anywhere else. I'm asking this because then I can apply for engineering and biology (backup) at my "dream school."

I can see how this can be abused because I could apply to 10 programs, get rejected by 9, get accepted by 1, and still go to that same college.

I would apply to the engineering school. I dont believe getting into a biology program would be that difficult, especially if you already satisfy the (usually higher) requirements for admission to the school of engineering.

As far as I know, once you select a particular major from the list as your “intended major” on your application, you are either being consider for that school, i.e. engineering school, science school, or general art school, or the entire school.

Some schools do admission at one centralized office. In another words, it doesn’t matter which major you filled in.
But many schools today let engineering school to decide their own admission, separates from the school’s general admission.
