Hi! I am a junior in high school and I recently got back my April 2015 ACT Scores. My composite score is a 36, which I am ecstatic about, but my writing score on the separate essay is a 9 out of 12. Since my composite score was above and beyond my goal, I don’t want to take the ACT’s again just to get a higher essay score. I was wondering if the not-so-great essay score will impact the views of some really good colleges on my score? I know most colleges ask for the ACT+writing scores so I know the essay score must be somewhat important…
CONGRATULATIONS, and I agree with your strategy. Your 36 ACT composite result obviously will be a MAJOR admissions advantage!
Those essays barely measure writing ability…they measure how much crap you can spew onto the page into a short time limit. Go forth and excel with your great score!
If you get 8 or above in essay, you are good.
I’m not sure schools even look at the essay score. Well done.
Thanks for your input everyone! Also, thanks for the congrats
