Hi everyone! I just got both my SAT and ACT scores. For the ACT I scored 34 C with 36 M and 33 on everything else. However, I only got a 26 on my essay (I did file for it to be re-scored just in case). On the SAT I scored a 1500 (750 on both subscores) but only a 19 on the essay (6, 6, and 7). First of all, I was wondering which of these scores I should submit? They are rather close together, and currently I am thinking about just submitting both. Also, how much the bad essay scores will impact my admissions? I am planning on applying to UCLA, UCB, USC, U Mich, UVA, NWestern, UW, and Stanford.
I’m not as familiar with the SAT essay scale, but the 26 on the ACT is above the 90th percentile. Why do you think this is a bad score?
@NerdMom88 I wasn’t aware of that! It seems like the percentiles are really different for the composite and essay. Still not great, but that does make me feel better.
Rescoring is just a waste of money. 26 is a pretty good essay score. Most colleges don’t even consider it in admissions. I got a 30 on my first essay and a 26 on the second. It really just depends on the readers.
