Bad first year and a half of high school!

I am now a sophomore in high school, and I am taking AP Calc AB. I got careless first semester, and slacked off, and I ended up failing the first semester. I didn't really study for the tests, but the few tests i DID study for, I did fairly well on, so i know that i am capable of doing well in that class, but what would you guys recommend? Should I stick with AP or should I not take the risk and just switch to Calc w/apps the remainder of my sophomore year, and just retake AP Calc AB my junior year?
Also, if I retake just the first semester of AP Calc AB my junior year, will that replace my failing grade?

And one more thing! First semester sophomore year obviously wasn't my best, and my freshman year wasn't too bad, but it wasn't that great. If starting now (second semester of 10th grade) I do well and improve, will I still have a chance for schools like Georgetown?

That may be a good idea in this case.

Ask your guidance counselor how the policies regarding this work at your school. Some schools replace it, others do not.

Bump! More advice is appreciated!
