bad first year so far

first semester had a 2.25 gpa with a withdrawn history class
bio major

this semster i have bio, chem, english, and precalc

i withdrew from chem because it ended up taking too much time.

now im faced with a dilemma i have 12 credits and it seems like im going to fail my precalc class. do i withdraw from precalc also and go to 8 credits for the rest of this semester(1month) ?
so id end up with 3 withdrawls my first year and a ~2.5 gpa with 21 credits

obviously not where i want to be but an awful start, but i believe i can change it around by taking some classes in the summer at CC and then returning to UNI this fall

If you’re going to fail, then it’s best to withdraw. Before you start taking classes at CC, you should probably look back at the year and figure out where you went wrong.

Yes, a W looks far better and hurts way less than an F. Retake precalc and history over the summer. Its not the end of the world, you have lots of time to bring your GPA up and find what works for you. It might actually help to get involved with some on campus organizations. I found it a little easier to manage time when I had more commitments because it means staying on track and sticking to a schedule. Sometimes it takes awhile to adjust but you’ll get there :)
