bad first year so far
first semester had a 2.25 gpa with a withdrawn history class
bio major

this semster i have bio, chem, english, and precalc

i withdrew from chem because it ended up taking too much time.

now im faced with a dilemma i have 12 credits and it seems like im going to fail my precalc class. do i withdraw from precalc also and go to 8 credits for the rest of this semester(1month) ?
so id end up with 3 withdrawls my first year and a ~2.5 gpa with 21 credits

obviously not where i want to be but an awful start, but i believe i can change it around by taking some classes in the summer at CC and then returning to UNI this fall

I think you really need to explore why this has happened. If there is some foundational problem then a significant change has to be made before you can just “change it around”.

At S2’s school they have a thing called “estimated cumulative progress” and if you are not meeting it you are subject to dismissal. He is on the quarter system and it averages about 15 units a quarter. He fell below freshmen year after failing a class so had to catch up the next quarter or go to summer school. AP units didn’t count, but I am not sure about CC units. You might also check to see if your school has that.

12 credits to be full time but, since there is only 1 month left im pretty sure it wouldn’t matter if i went under the 12 credit limit as everything should have gone through by now

Or you could continue in the class, and if you fail re-take it and have the new grade replace the old grade. Same thing in the end for the GPA. I definitely suggest going to see a counselor. Things might not be as bad as you think.

You need to deal with this issue first and foremost. What is your time commitment expectation? Are you spending at least 40 hours studying/attending class? Because if you are and chemistry made that 50-60 hours, you may have dropped it for the right reasons. But be honest with yourself and ask if you are actually putting in enough time to get educated properly.

Having taught these classes, I hate when students do this. With 4 weeks left in the semester it’s a little late now to try to improve on the situation.
