Bad freshman year, did I ruin my chances for a good school?

My freshman year was mainly ruined by my only advanced class... Algebra 1 honors. It wasn't that it was difficult, I finished with a B-, it's just that my teacher didn't know how to teach the material!!! So anyways, my overall unweighed GPA was a 3.42. I'm now going into my sophomore year and I have 4 honors classes(they are for core classes... Honors are not offered for electives.) if I shape up for the rest of my high school years, will my chances still be ruined? I really want to go to BC or BU!

First of all, that GPA is THAT low for BU or BC. Secondly, if you get all A’s and A-'s for the next two years, your GPA will be fine. Your guidance counselor can explain the bad teacher story in his/her rec for you…in 2 years…

Don’t worry, you’re just a freshman. And an upward trend looks good anyway to admissions committees :)

*isn’t that low (lol)
