I am worried about getting into any good colleges. I received horrible grades freshman year, dropping my GPA to a 2.8. I was able to raise my grades to a 3.26 unweighted by junior year, score a 2080 on the SAT, get the AP Scholar with Honor distinction, receive excellent recommendations from two of my AP teachers, and attend a very prestigious camp for musicians called Interlochen, which I will be speaking about almost constantly about on my essay. With all of these boosts, but such a low GPA, do I have any chance of getting into a school like the University of Michigan.

Unfortunately, I think the low GPA will lower your chances of U Mich, but you could give them an excuse for the low GPA. Try writing a really good college essay and that will help alot But you still have a chance of getting in like every person that applies.
Good Luck.

Thanks very much for the help. At the very least, I could apply as a transfer student later down the line.

Try applying at another college that doesn’t take freshman year in account…

Is 3.26 your junior year GPA or your GPA altogether by junior year?

That is my total GPA. My junior year GPA is much higher. My grades have been almost constantly raising since freshman year and so have the difficulty of my classes.

Also, I’m a legacy of the university of Michigan. I don’t know if that helps, but I hope so!
