Bad SAT II Score

I got 630 for literature, mainly due to time-management problems. I want to apply to some Ivies and colleges that have opted out of the Collegeboard's new score-choice policy.
That test was my second try (but i cancelled my first score). I am thinking about retaking it to get a higher score but I am not sure if I can make any significant improvements by November. I think (and I hope), with a lot of preparation and some luck, I may be able to bring it up to around a low 700.

My questions are...

1) Can an improved score somehow offset the previous, poor score? For example, will getting a score of 700+ "erase" or "reduce the impact" of 630?

2) Has anyone improved from a score in the 600s to 700s for SATII Lit?

3) If I do retake on October and get lower than 700 (i.e. fail to show noticeable improvements), will that be looked down by colleges?

4) Does a score of 630 indicate that I should seriously consider taking a different subject test?

Thank you very much!

1) Won’t erase it. But you can use score choice to hide your score.
2) I’m sure they have. Very possible with extensive studying
3) Yeah probably, well unless you get a really high 600- that’s improvement
4) One would think so.

I am still not clear about whether an improved SAT score (700+) can negate a poor score (low 600) for colleges that do NOT allow score-choice policy. Can someone clarify this for me?

And should I take a different subject test, even if it will involve a lot of self-studying? I was planning to take math II (already taken), lit and physics. The only other possible test seems to be US history. Is it possible to self-study it and get a high score? Or will sticking to literature be a better option?

Thanks.

I don’t think that you will “erase” the score by scoring higher, but I do think that if you score significantly higher it will significantly lessen the impact of the low score. I would not retake it though unless you are almost positive you will do much better.

We’ve been sending scores every time we take a test, like ACT, SAT, SAT II, to four colleges, because it’s included in the fee, and we’re hoping to that way get on their radar, let them know we’re interested in them, maybe see if they’re interested in son.

When you officially apply for a college, do the colleges automatically look at those scores that you sent, or do you officially have to have them sent as part of your application?

When you apply for the college, can you choose what scores you send to them as part of your app, or has the damage already been done, since you sent all of them as part of your initial application?
