Bad SAT mock questions thread

I created this thread to discuss bad SAT questions in third-party tests and help students in the future avoid bad questions. . If you have any doubt if any of the questions you encounter in your studies are bad, post here!

I’ll start it off with #51 Reading in practice 1 in Ivy Global’s New SAT 4 practice tests.

As used in line 35, “abhorrent” most nearly means…
A)Pitiful
B)shocking
C)disgusting
D)repugnant

I have never been a quitter. To leave the office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body.

The answer is D.

Will Collegeboard honestly test students whether or not they can notice the subtle difference between disgusting and repugnant?

One more:

6 in practice test 1

As used in line 13, “vocal” most nearly means
A)blunt
B)outspoken
C) out loud.
D)forthright

A small, vocal minority of researchers suggest we don’t need more doctors.

The answer is B. Vocal in this context means “outspoken” but I feel like every vocab in context questions I’ve seen in CB’s tests were either right or wrong but in this case I feel like “forthright” isn’t completely wrong. In fact, the dictionary defines “forthright” as “direct and outspoken”
Could the collegeboard test students to notice the subtle differences between words? or is Ivy global’s mock questions doing a bad job?

I have one more regarding #10 but that requires a passage to understand.
The answer is D. Although we have a responsibility to provide high-quality care, we should not expect for that to decrease medical costs.
The final paragraph doesn’t even discuss anything about medical costs, so how can that me the main idea of the paragraph? It merely discusses how the need for doctors will increase, due to increased primary care.

PM me if you want to see the question.

@YoLolololol I’ve seen my fair share of poorly-worded, ambiguous, incorrect, or otherwise bad SAT math questions here (I have some exam-writing experience, so spotting them isn’t too difficult). An example:
