all of the required parts of the application were received by ohio state during the last week of october. i’m in-state and going into engineering. i’ve been on evaluation for over a month. is this a bad sign that i’m not going to get in?

would like explanation as well…

It takes them a while. Just wait 1-2 more weeks

I had everything completed by around October 1st. I’m going to ask my counselor to contact the admissions office on monday. I’ve contacted them a few times, and they say it takes about 8-12 weeks on average. I said I would give them until the 15th, but I’m getting so impatient! Haha. But I’ve decided that even if this IS a bad sign, I’ll still be very happy at my number 2 school. I just really want to go to OSU!

if i haven’t heard by now, does this mean that i won’t be given an invitation to the honors program?

I don’t think that’s the case. I’m pretty sure anyone who applies by the February 1st deadline is able to get into the Honors program. But I’m not sure, you should probably call admissions and ask. Don’t rely on me! :P

I would call and ask if I was you. I sent in my application Nov.28 and have already recieved my acceptance letter. Also for the honors and scholars programs you have to apply to separately after you have been admitted. I think the deadline for them is feb. 1 but i’m not positive.

why do people seem to think that they’re entitled to a decision in less time than the university says it will take? It honestly ****es me off seeing these people get accepted in 2 weeks when other people have to wait months, and then people throwing hissy fits because “omgggg I submitted my app 2 weeks ago and I’m still in evaluation ohhhh noooo.” just relax. Please. I was in evaluation for nearly 3 months and I was accepted. Just stop thinking that you’re entitled to getting a decision in less than 8-12 weeks, or god forbid, WITHIN that time frame…

calm down i just want confirmation from ohio state b/c idk if i can afford purdue or uiuc. the sooner i know the better

Some people get anxious, and, at least I believe, it’s totally understandable. If you don’t want to read it, get off of the forums. These forums are supposed to be supportive, not the opposite.

Gah sorry guys, I really came off as a dick in my last post. I was frustrated with other things. Really didn’t intend to come off like that.

What I’m saying though, is that they say 8-12 weeks. When you hit 8 weeks and still have no decision, that’s theoretically “normal” and shouldn’t cause panic. Sure, get curious at 16 weeks if you still have no word. I do totally understand how you want the confirmation though, I’m in the same boat with other places too. And in response to the OP, a long wait does not indicate a rejection. I applied the day the app came out, and was in evaluation until December 8th when I was accepted.

Good luck guys.

It’s okay! we’re all a little stressed out here haha

what if you have hit 13 to 14 weeks since the file has been completed?

Personally I wouldn’t bother them till you get to 16, just because they’re busy. I got my decision at 15 weeks. But by all means, call them now if you want.
