Bag for laptop and books?

What do you use or what would you recommend. I plan to use this for my laptop bag as well as for books. I'm deciding between a backpack and a messenger bag. In either case (no pun intended) could you please explain your reasoning and be as specific with brands and models as possible. Also if you don't use either of those, what do you use an why? Thanks in advance.

I use a backpack for both. I recommend JanSport backpacks as they are very durable. It may cost a little more than normal backpacks, but it’s definitely worth it in the long run. I’ve had mines since Freshman year of high school and call me cheap, but I’m still using that same one and it’s in great condition.

Btw, if you’re going to buy a JanSport, don’t buy a black one. Legit, EVERYONE at UCF has a black one. One of my classmates lost his backpack because someone else took his mistakenly thinking it was theirs. Not fun :/

yeah i agree with mizz, get a jansport. i’ve got one with a laptop sleeve and padding in it that i’ve had since freshman year. it still works great and i plan on using it at ucf. and apparently i should be glad it’s brown, not black… lol

Don’t know if you have Costco by you, but periodically they sell good backpacks for laptops/books. They’re reasonably priced, durable, and look good. DS liked his so much that his dad bought one for himself the following year.

The North Face! swag

No, but really, both JanSport and TNF are great choices if you’re willing to “invest” in a backpack that will last you years.

I used a messenger bag for a year, and while it was great for quick access and convenience, it was bearing all of its weight on my neck/shoulder area. I wouldn’t recommend it for carrying books and a laptop.
