Balancing school, sports and part-time job

I recently received an interview for a part-time job and I’m starting to second guess whether or not I can handle a job. I’m taking 3 AP’s this year APUSH, AP Lang and AP environmental science. Along with that I have competive cheer in which I have practice 4 days a week till 4:30. I have student council and freshman mentoring club as well, but I’m not to worried about those clubs.

Has anyone had a schedule similar to this if so how was it. Did you ever have anytime for homework, sleep and just “me” time.

Last year, I had 5 APs: APUSH, Psych, Physics 1, Calc AB, and Comp Sci Principles. I also skied 23 hours per week, including all weekend and 3 days a week after school. Skiing also involved a 40-minute car ride there and back, but someone else always drove. On nights when I skied, it was a good deal if I got home before 9, at which point I would eat and shower before finishing homework. I also had 14 absences due to ski races. While it was definitely a lot, I never felt like I was drowning. My Psych and APUSH teachers gave out long-term homework schedules, which really helped with planning. I was also usually able to finish my calc homework at lunch on the days I had to ski. For me, it was all about looking ahead at what needed to get done, and portioning it out according to when I had time. That meant working through lunch or while I was riding in a car. Sometimes, I had to skip training. It happens. On days when I didn’t ski, I’d look at my homework schedules and try to get ahead. It’s all about diligence and planning, honestly.

ski_racer, how much sleep did you get :open_mouth: , 23 hours a week with 5 AP’s sounds insane

@TimexRosegold No less than 6.5 hours, but generally around 7.5 hours. I’m one of those people that can’t operate on 4 hours of sleep. One of the things that helps is going to sleep and waking up at the same time every day, even weekends.
