<p>BFA Acting - The BFA in Acting is designed to provide pre-professional training within a liberal arts education. This demanding option requires intense course work focused on the craft and study of acting. In addition, all acting students complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. Curriculum and performance opportunities are designed to prepare students for careers in acting and/or advanced training at the graduate level. Students are evaluated each semester through performance juries and rigorous classroom experiences. The Acting Option requires 85 semester hours of credit. Thirty-two (32) hours are dedicated to Departmental core curriculum. In addition, fifty-three (53) hours focus on advanced courses in acting, voice, and movement. Students receive advanced courses in voice for the actor, movement for the actor, acting for the camera, audition, and a series of courses focused on the study of acting in a variety of areas (realism, comedy, ethnic styles, non-realism, etc.). Acting Option students must pass a performance jury each semester including the senior year. All seniors have the opportunity to audition for the New York, Los Angeles, or Chicago Showcases.</p>

<p>BA/BS Design & Technology - The Design and Technology Option is intended for the talented and serious student who wishes to pursue a career in design or technical theatre. This option provides a strong foundation for advanced study in a quality graduate program or an introduction into the profession on an entry level. Areas of concentration include scenery, lighting, costuming, sound design. All theatre students also complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. The Design and Technology Option requires 64 semester hours of credit. A portfolio review is not required for admittance as a Theatre major in the Design and Technology Option, however a scholarship interview is strongly encouraged. Design and Technology Option Students must present a portfolio at the end of each spring semester and must pass an exit portfolio at the end of the senior year to complete the option. The department recommends that Design and Technology students pursue a minor in Art History to supplement the design aspect of your degree.</p>

<p>BA/BS Production - The Production Option is intended for students wanting to pursue a professional career in directing for the stage and stage management. This option will also prepare students for admittance in production oriented Master of Fine Arts graduate programs. All theatre students also complete a strong core of liberal arts courses.
The Production Option requires 62 semester hours of credit. Students are required to take a core curriculum of 32 hours and 30 elective hours of theatre and performance studies courses. Choice of electives is determined by the students' career goals.</p>

<p>BA/BS Theatrical Studies - The Theatrical Studies Option is intended for students wanting a broad based study of the theatre discipline, for students wanting to pursue careers in playwriting, management, theatre history/criticism, or for students wanting to pursue graduate study at the MA or Ph.D level. All theatre students also complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. Students not admitted into the Acting or Musical Theatre Option may enter the program under Theatrical Studies and re-audition for the performance program they choose the following fall. The Theatrical Studies Option requires 58 semester hours of credit. Students are required to take a core curriculum of 32 hours and 26 elective hours of theatre and performance studies courses. Choice of electives is determined by the students' career goals.</p>

<p>BA/BS Theatre Education - The Theatre Education Major is intended for students wanting to earn an Indiana secondary education teacher's license. The major provides a broad foundation in performance, theatre design and technology, and theatre history to prepare the future teacher for all areas of a high school drama curriculum and production program. All theatre students also complete a strong core of liberal arts courses. The Theatre Education Major requires 37-38 semester hours of credit. All secondary education majors must also complete 39 semester hours of credit in professional education courses. A minimum grade point average (G.P.A.) of 2.5 is required of all teacher education majors.</p>
