Band/Music

<p>I played trombone in an mid level band at my hs for 2 years, we have an elite music department (like, 6 grammys, and 1 grammy gold or whatever the highest one is). I also did music related ECs fresh year (1st chair jazz, and marching band). Will this help me at all with admissions. It is not really a passion, but I was heavily involved during fresh year. </p>

i don't think your music involvement from freshman year will help you that much - college's are looking for consistency and a developed passion for whatever it is that you do across all 4 years and in the first place, i don't think that they'd give that much weight to freshman year.
but i'm sure you're involved in other activities so just focus on those (like in essays and in making sure you've been involved for 4 years - maybe even in leadership positions) and you'll be good to go (:</p>
