This summer, I was accepted into the Bank of America Student Leaders Internships. It’s a eight week paid internship ($10 hourly pay) at a nearby non-profit or charitable organization. Also a trip to Washington DC, with other high school students nationwide. This program includes help with saving money for college and super competitive, like its harder to be part of this program than attend Harvard.
At the same time as the internship, my family is having a giant family union in NC which happens almost never. This will be the summer before I go to college so it’ll be only time I get to cherish my time with family before I dorm at college. The college isn’t that far from home, still it’ll be tough for our family.
I don’t drive yet, and the program doesn’t offer transportation. So if my family leaves for the road trip, I would have to rely only on myself to be on time for the city bus or find a ride to downtown Minneapolis.
It’s kind of dramatic but so far, this is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make. I’m in need of help, so please let me know if you were ever in the same situation. To anyone who participated in this program, how was this program beneficial & did you feel like it was worth it before college?
