hello guys, im from clifton, NJ, dont really know what “market” im from? anyone else apply from the area?

There is a list of markets on the website. There is just a generic New Jersey one, so I’m guessing you would be in that one?

Is there a way to check the status of your application? Or did anyone get a confirmation e-mail from them or anything? I’m about 99% sure that I submitted my application but I don’t remember getting any kind of e-mail so I just wanted to check…

I’m in Orange County as well. I have no doubt the market will be extremely competitive, considering the amount of highly qualified applicants from top schools in the area like Troy High, Sunny Hills High, Torrey Pines (? not sure if it’s in OC), University High, Northwood High, etc.

@michaelChen what school are you from?

that would not be a smart thing to release publicly on the internet…

Wowowow you guys have like 600+ volunteer hours? Oh I’m screwed then. Like bad. I mean, I’m fairly confident that my essays were well-written but I don’t know if they can make up for hours…

@tessa8578 - I believe there was a confirmation email sent out saying that your application was submitted.

I’m reallllllllyy doubtful… my app was oook I think, BUT my lazy teacher AH!! My letter of rec was a stinkin paragraph!! LOL

@ahmazinginc i just went back through my old e-mails and found it. I was really scared I forgot to hit the submit button for a minute :P

@micahbobicah, i reallly do not have many hours either but I think I had a good rec and good essays…I wonder how much weight they actually put on hours vs essays?

Yeah i did not have as much as 600+ hours but my essays were really good I’m kinda glad that im a good writer and maybe just maybe they will overlook my community service hours and accept me cuz of my essays! haha

yeah I don’t have 600+ hours either, but I had somewhere in the low hundreds. But, my letter of rec. and my essays were really good in my opinion. I wonder how competitive the Houston market is.
oh, are there seperate selection commitees for every market? or is there just one main one?

I dont know about anyone else, but i was really upset about the 1000 character maximum in the responses. I can understand doing that for the questions to keep them to the point, but the community service and achievements? REALLY?!? I didn’t even get to fit all of mine in!
I feel like i wasn’t able to be complete…
Oh well, i’m in chicago(a huuuuuge market), so i guess i didn’t have much of a chance to begin with:(

I got an email and they want to schedule an interview with me!! Ahhh!! I’m so excited!! Anyone else make it past “Round 1” and going in for an interview? Also, is anyone else from the San Antonio market??

Congrats

Does every market do interviews? I didn’t get an e-mail yet…so I’m hoping the Detroit market isn’t doing interviews…

Thanks tessa! Not sure if every market does interviews - no one’s mentioned them in earlier posts… maybe my market is just extra-competitive? San Antonio is a big city. Maybe they’re doing this to weed out the weaker ones… The fact that they want to interview me though I think is a good sign. Not sure if I should get my hopes up yet though… Interview’s tomorrow and I’m really nervous :/

Oh shiiiiiz. I’m from East Bay/Oakland, CA, and that’s a super competitive market I bet, and no interview notification? I’m screwed. Is anyone else from East Bay/Oakland, CA?

Uh oh.
I haven’t heard anything regarding interviews either, and I live in Silicon Valley (read: super ridiculously competitive)
Hmm, does anyone know for certain if all areas are conducting interviews?
(I really do hope not)

Any idea for interviews in Orange County?

I’m thinking not every market is doing interviews because there was no mention of them from last year, and apparently no one else has heard anything…at least that’s what I’m telling myself :P

But good luck Culturechic and let us know how it goes!

I’m from the Delaware market and have heard nothing.
