Bank of America Student Leaders 2014 Questions

My first CC post, yo! :)

I'm extremely interested in being a Student Leader and I have some questions for past Leaders and those who have applied. Around what months do the applications become available and when is the deadline? What are the most important qualities Bank of America look for in applicants? And other than essays and general information about the applicant, what other aspects are there to the application?

I'm in the Detroit Market and I have around 300 hours of unpaid community service and 125 hours of work experience with one of Bank of America's partnered nonprofits (I hope that will help ). I'm not sure if it counts as community service. My supervisor says it does and he will be signing a community service form for me, but I was paid for the hours...

Anyways, thank you in advance for your help and thank you for reading. Continue to make a difference guys! :)

Grrrrrr. Bump!

Its great to hear that you would like to be a bank of America student leader. My name is Derrick Mitchell Jr. and I am from the Connecticut market. The main focus of the program is taking young leaders in their community and providing them with insight about non-profit organization. With your accreditation I am pretty sure you are fond of how a non-profit organization operates. I am not going to exactly tell you everything that happens in the program because that just ruins all the fun in it. Anyways, the program is very competitive let me repeat very competitive. Out of the whole nation only 230 young leaders are selected to take part in this program. The key to applying to the program is being humble. Each application has to be manually evaluated, meaning they are going to take the most well rounded individual. So to increase your odds, I would suggest get letter of recommendations from people that have a high position in their career as well as volunteering to as much places as you can.

I’m so glad that you’re taking an interest in the program! I was a student leader this past summer and I absolutely cannot say enough good things about it! They’re really looking for students who have shown leadership initiative and are doing their best to make a difference in their communities. They are also looking for students who are passionate about their personal interests and are using those interests to make positive changes in the world around them. They look for answers that show ambition and creativity.
