Hey, just wanted to know what banks are represented in Austin. Could some one please list out the major ones?

Also I'm an international so hopefully they have international representation too since my parents would have to send me my money from back home.

Also, since I'm on the topic of money, what are the fee payment schedules in UT like?

When I register for classes at orientation do I pay fees for 1 semester or 2?

Hey Razr,
I am an international student too.
If by fees you mean room and board, the first payment is due in October, or the whole thing, first payment if you are doing it by installments.... which you pay by month
october
november
december
february
march
april...
=six of them.
If you meant tuition..... you should have the tuition money in by August 16th, they told me, for the fall semester... which is about $10,200 - you can do installments, but it doesn't make too much sense because you have to pay half of those $10,200 in August, then 1/4 in September, and another 1/4 in October-
So it's best to pay it all in August.
Then for the second semester we'll pay in January... the other $10,200.

Call them if you want to make sure, but I called them yesterday and this is the way they explained it to me.

Most of the major banks are in Austin. I know from personal experience that there is a Wells Fargo Bank conveniently located on the Drag. They have a College Checking account with no fees and free Bill Pay and debit card and you can also get a College Visa card with no fee.

i use washington mutual...this is also on the drag...they have free checking accounts, free online banking, free checks for life, free wire transfers, free debit card, free ATM usage (any bank)...and also, when i signed up they had a deal where you get $50 free when you open this account...dont know if they still have this...service is excellent

Bank of America and UFCU have the biggest presence on and around campus.

UFCU actually has ATMs in some of the dorms as well as in the Union and I'd assume elsewhere on campus. Their closest physical bank is actually on the Drag, as is BOA's, which I believe is on Guadalupe and Dean Keeton.

Bank of America has the biggest nationwide presence in the US, so that would likely be most convenivent elsewhere. But if you are planning on staying mostly on campus the entire time UFCU would be a good bet.

thank you all for the info, I checked out B of A online this morning, & chatted with a customer rep about opening up an acct. I asked for the CampusEdge checking, guess what, I was told daughter cannot have an acct in her name because she's not yet 18!! That's pretty annoying....

Don't use Bank of America.....they are SO annoying. I would suggest to use any Bank ----- but NOT Bank of America. They are a big rip-off with fees
and NO customer service!

Yeah the whole Campus Edge thing is a crock since there ARE some students who aren't 18 yet, or won't be until college starts =

I was debating between BoA or Wells, possibly Chase now? As those are the most convenient ones even outside of campus. However, I think Wells is a bit further away than BoA or Chase...
