Banks

I think I asked this a few months ago, but I’ll ask again.

Most convenient bank on campus?

Bank of America has on-campus ATMs. I think Citizens Bank has a lot of Providence locations as well.

If you go to Bank of America, and mention the name of a friend, e.g. me, they'll deposit 25 bucks in each of our accounts. IM me if you want about it, but BOA is the closest to campus, while Citizens is also prevalent in the surrounding area, but not as close as BOA.

hahahahaha, good idea jason. yeah, bank of america is probably your safest bet.

Hey Hey... Jen I dont wnat you jumping on my let's recruit the Brown Campus to BOA to make me rich fund...

I'd go with BOA but there isn't one in my home county. Ugh.

Citizens it is.

I was wondering if BOA or Citizens charge for student accounts?? Beacuse when I was at summer school, Fleet Bank had this deal where they didnt charge anything for student accounts.

Fleet was merged with BOA and has the same deal basically.

BOA is kind of crazy, but I was able to set up checking online and then do online transfers from my Wells Fargo account, even though I don't have a BOA branch here. It was pretty easy.

Does anyone know if any of these banks have things where they charge after 6 months, or charge if you don't have a certain amount of money in your account? Basically, know of any unpleasant fine print? (I'm way too lazy to read fine print.)

BOA I think after a couple of years charges 5$ a month if you dont set up a direct deposit.

My parents decided to give me $100 a month for spending money in addition to whatever i made or save, so they set that up direct desposit and I dont have to worry about it.

However, I am suspicious about this charge because though I read it on the webpage, none of the documentation when I opened my account mentions it and neither did the associate helping me.

BOA, to my knowledge, has free checking for something like 6 years if you get the college student checking account.

6 months, i think

I am almost positive that BOA has free checking under with the student checking account for longer than 6 months. While I don't remember the exact amount of time, I do remember going to BOA, asking the question, and eventually opening an account, and I remembered the answer being something like 5 or 6 years. I'm certain it was longer than 6 months, because if it were 6 months I would not have gotten the account.

I am almost positive it's 6months, 2 years if your parents have an account there, always with direct deposit.

<a href="http://www.bankofamerica.com/deposits/checksave/index.cfm?template=check_student%5B/url%5D">http://www.bankofamerica.com/deposits/checksave/index.cfm?template=check_student</a></p>

Correction-- 6months, or 5 years if your parent banks with them, or always with direct deposit.

Maybe I have direct deposit, then... whatever that means.

Direct deposit means the money from yours, or another pay check, for that matter, is "directly deposited" into the account each month as cash rather than having you have to cash a check that you receive.
