I decided to make a thread so that we can ease the anxiety. I called UMD and they said that all banneker key notifications would be mailed by March 20th. Good luck to all!!
Every BK finalist is a great student. The only reason the distinction between full/partial exist is to stretch very limited funding to reach more students. Most BKs will be partials since many more of the fulls won’t matriculate. There really shouldn’t be any “anxiety”, everyone who interviewed is already a BK Scholar and their transcripts and other documentation will be identical. Congrats, you’ve earned it.
@Plumazul, you are very right and i’m so excited to announce that 25 minutes after making this post, I got the FULL banneker key!!! SO excited!! God is good!
For anyone wondering, it came in todays mail and it was a letter and a certificate. I also live 15-20 minutes away from College Park
d got her letter and certificate today also. #sighofrelief
The guy said April 1st…
we were told April also, but in no way am I disappointed that it came early.
Anyone else hear today? About 400 students were invited for the interviews.
.
I live an hour out, so probably hearing on monday
@cutegal96 and @surupsamich Do you have anything on your UMd portal? D2’s portal doesn’t even have the initial Banneker-Key award; that came in the nice packet in the mail. It just has her acceptance letter, and we can’t even figure out where it would be.
@Arlmom2, here’s how I access my D’s B/K Award info…
Access the Office of Student Financial Aid home webpage http://www.financialaid.umd.edu/.
On the home page, select Financial Aid Notification on the left hand side of the page, then select Check Your Financial Aid Status Online.
You’ll need your D2’s Directory ID and Password to pass the Central Authentication Service (CAS) screen.
Select the Show Me My financial Aid Status button to show your D2’s 2015-2016 Financial Aid Status.
On the top of that page select Award to view your D2’s 2015-2016 Award Package.
I hope this works for you!
@Hawk-I how do you find your directory ID and password?
^That’s established by your student to gain access to the UMD network. I think there are instructions sent to the students on how to establish their network ID.
@Hawk-I This is after confirming enrollment correct?
^I believe so, yes.
My son just signed up for his student ID after I read Hawk-I’s posting. He did not have to confirm enrollment to do so. But he was unable to access the award page; instead a message came up to the effect that the account would now be activated within 48 hours. Presumably the award could have accessed had he registered for a student ID earlier. In looking at the prior years’ postings, everyone indicates the award only comes by mail and that is what was we were advised at the BK Day. But given Hawk-I’s posting, it seems those with established ID’s may be able to access the award online. Good luck to everyone.
d is a procrastinator(sp) dont think she has checked her portal, or even accepted her award yet. still deciding between umd and e-town.
Thanks, @terpdad888 and @hawk-I D2 didn’t have time tonight to try out your hints, but I appreciate you sending them along. Who knows, perhaps the fates will be kind and she’ll get the golden ticket tomorrow!
So, the letters are sent out? Can anyone else confirm?
