I was actually just looking around, and somewhere on Barnard’s website said that they mail out their letters for early decision no later than the 15th.

ugh! so that means they come later?

Last year, the 15th was on a Wednesday, and they mailed the letters out on Monday the 13th. The kids who lived in NYC got their letters on Tuesday the 14th. The international kids got their emails on the 13th (I believe).

However, this year the 15th is on a Thursday. I would be thrilled if they sent them out on Monday the 12th, because then we’d mostly receive them by the 14th.

However, the confirmation for enrollment on the website will probably open up on the same day as the internationals get their e-mails. The online confirmation for transfer acceptances is already up!

@noloserhere: aww, I hope we all get in, too! And Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is like the equivalent of Starbucks, only it’s a bit better in my opinion. Now that I think about it, I think they only have them on the West Coast…

Wait, ladies, so, they send them the 15th or they send before so that we get them on the 15th? I am from California, so does that mean I won’t get mine until like the 18th?

@nyc1994: You do theatre professionally already?? That’s really cool…are you planning on majoring in it at Barnard?

Oh, and @maevecannon: I’m so excited/nervous, too! The 15th needs to come faster…anyway, I chose Barnard because I like the location (in the city, but still has a campus and far enough removed from thew craziness of midtown), the class sizes and the Nine Ways of Knowing, their theatre program, and it just seems like an overall good fit for me. Like, it just seems like my personality type would fit in well there and I like that it’s not an all-girls school in the middle of nowhere. Initially, I was completely closed off to all-girls schools, but the way Barnard is set up appeals to me because you still have that “rah rah sisterhood” bond but there are boys across the street, so it’s the best of both worlds. Bahh, I hope I get in! Oh, and I am from California…

So HOPEFULLY they mail them before and we get them the 15th.

I orginally was looking at Columbia because a someone in my family went there, so I’ve been on campus a million times. Then I heard of Barnard and liked their curriculum better. It was a toss-up, but I decided Barnard because I like the flexible curriculum. I have so many things I want to explore, the Core would just be too much of a burden!

@SunlitMidnight: !!! YOU WROTE YOURS ON KATARA?! THAT IS AMAZING. The Korra intro was taken down by Youtube, though! :’( Tearbending right now at the loss. I propose that if we both get into Barnard we’ll have a Legend of Korra party when it’s finally released, although at this rate we’ll probably have graduated college by the time it comes out…

And the live-action movie was seriously the third worst movie-going experience of my life, topped only by Godzilla 2000 and Muppets from Space (I started bawling because it was so sad when Gonzo had to choose between his parents and his friends and my parents had to escort me out of the theater). I was next to two movie talkers who happened to be large guys, one of whom leaned his head on my shoulder half the time when I was clearly not interested, and my sister got so bored and annoyed that she walked out and for the last half hour sat in front of the Salt poster and counted the number of people who said “SALT. ANGELINA JOLIE.” in a dramatic voice as they passed by. Apparently that was far more entertaining than the movie.

Oh my gosh, as the 15th is approaching I am getting SO nervous, especially because I fully expect to get rejected. I’m trying to get excited about other schools but I just end up comparing them all to Barnard. To make matters worse, I’m going to my mom’s Christmas party at the Columbia Teachers College, which is right across the street from Barnard - I’m going to be looking at the campus and ogling and dreaming!

i wish time could speed up.

@amurd: we are such fangirlllsss aahhh!! Movie was so disappointing. Mainly because the script lacked ANY depth…as well as any sokka humor. #sogreat

@noloserhere: WORD. At least for the next ten days or so.

Question: anyone here like watching the big bang theory? Because THAT IS MY SHOWWW (after avatar the last airbenderrr)!

@Sunlit Midnight: I LOVE “The Big Bang Theory”! It is one of my favorites.

@PLT: !!! I kinda watch it religiously…nbd. Gawd knows we were all mean to go this school…seriously hoping that admissions recognizes it!

PIECE OF ADVICE FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK:
Sometimes you just gotta have a little faith…faith and patience will get you through.
–SunlitMidnight ;)

Guys this is too embarrassing to admit, so I didn’t comment on it before, but now I feel safe. So. I’ve watched every single ATLA episode 5 times. I even read/follow ATLA fanfiction. SMH. (But yo… Zutara should’ve happened!).

Sigh. I am like the dorkiest person ever. I have the dorkiest habits and do the dorkiest things ever. I would never admit to these things in real life, but this is an anonymous forum.

After admitting the above, I hope to god that none of you will connect this account to my fb account in the future haha.

@Sunlit: I basically want to marry Sheldon. I mean, it’s no big deal or anything. But, haha, yeah, I probably watch way too much TV for my own good…“How I Met Your Mother”, “Once Upon A Time”, “New Girl”, “Pretty Little Liars”, and “Gossip Girl” are like my shows though.

That’s really funny that all of you guys watch “Avatar”…I’ve never actually seen it, but it’s been my best friend’s guilty pleasure since were like 11. She has all of the seasons on DVD.

And, I’m loving the advice of the week! :)

@PeaceLoveTheatre no i don’t plan on continuing theatre once i’m in college. i mean, i have an agent here in NYC so i guess i will still go out on auditions but i don’t plan on studying theatre. i kind of feel like after taking so many classes and doing so many shows, actually being graded on my acting and such would suck out any of the fun that i actually still find in performing.

Wow girls, I have just stumbled upon this thread this morning- it’s crazy! I thought I was a lone Barnard-obsessor, I’m so glad there are more! You guys all sound so amazing, it would be CRAZY if we all end up in college together next year

So what exactly is the deal with the reduction in ED admissions this year? I feel like it would be extremely unfair if they were to cut down on our class’s admission as a result of last year’s mistake…if that is the case…

Also, is there a website we can go to to see if we are admitted or not- on the 15th?

AHHHH, I can’t wait!!

Hi, medrix!! (: Welcome! We get decisions on the 15th via mail…no email for us, sadly :/

so…i have no idea about any of the shows you guys are talking about.

i have absolutely horrible taste in tv–my favorite show is jersey shore, followed by gossip girl.

I watch Gossip Girl religiously, it’s a sad addiction… I have also recently jumped on the Vampire Diaries wagon (haha) and I love it (sadly), anyone watch the Vamp Diaries?

Did I miss the Avatar discussion? Oh well, I’m going to talk about it anyway. I just watched the leaked clip from Legend of Korra and now I’m even more excited! Hopefully we all get accepted so we can have a viewing party together!

Anyway, back to Barnard. I know we’re getting pretty damn close to the big day, but the nerves haven’t really been hitting me. It just doesn’t feel like any of this is actually happening - it still feels like I have years to go before I should start worrying about colleges. Maybe as the date approaches and my friends start hearing back from their ED schools I’ll start worrying more, but right now I’m just not really processing it.

@treehugga don’t worry! me too!
