I’ve visited both schools and I love them both. I was originally planning to apply ED 1 to Barnard and if I didn’t get in, I would apply ED 2 to Tufts (because I really wouldn’t mind going to whichever I got into). However, I keep going back and forth between applying ED to Tufts or Barnard.
Tufts has the choice of ED 2, but I feel that I would have a better chance for ED 1 as I’m not sure how my senior year grades will turn out.
For Tufts, I want to major in biopsychology. For Barnard, I want to major in psychology or neuroscience and behaviour. I want to apply to veterinary schools in the future, so it would be great if there are supportive and helpful pre-health advisors. Do you know which school would be better in terms of psychology/biological studies?
I’ve only been to NYC and Boston a few times, and I think I prefer NYC better because I’ve lived in a city (similar to nyc) for my whole life. Even though I might prefer NYC, I also love Boston, so I don’t think that would be a huge factor. I’m not sure if I’ll have more opportunities at Tufts or Barnard (Boston vs NY) in terms of getting animal experience for vet school and research opportunities and internships.
I also wanted to compare how competitive and stressful the schools are. I come from a very competitive high school, so I think I will be able to manage it as long as I work hard. I’m not sure if students at Tufts or Barnard are competitive. And are Columbia students competitive (because as a Barnard student, I would be taking some classes at Columbia). Thank you for reading!
