Barnard Transfer Fall 2019: Mid Term Reports

Hi! I just applied for Barnard Transfer for Fall 2019. I am excited, but also incredibly nervous. I’m mostly worried about my mid-term report.

I have a class where I currently have a D (for a variety of reasons, some my fault and some not), and even though I know that grade will be raised to an A by the end of the semester, there’s no way the Admissions board can know that. It still appears as a D in my mid-term report. My other classes are all As and some Bs, and this ONE class does not really represent my performance in it.

How seriously do they take into consideration those mid-term reports? Is anyone having the same issues as me? I just want to know how it affects my chances. And to ease my mind a bit.

Thanks! And good luck to all!

@apeteisa I know there is a section on the midterm report that professors can write comments. Is there anyway for you to get your professor to write a sentence or two about your work ethic in that class/how they are sure that you can bring the grade up? I successfully transferred to Barnard last fall, and it was a great decision. Good luck with your decisions, and let me know if you have any questions!

@apeteisa I’m also applying as a transfer for Fall 2019! I received a not-so-great grade last semester in my economics class, and I was (and still kinda really am ngl) super worried about how admissions would take it. SO, I emailed my regional admissions rep about it and she gave a lot of reassurance. She said that Barnard is very holistic in their review of apps and doesn’t necessarily condemn students for a singular poor performance. I hope this helps! It levied some of my own anxiety about it

This is really reassuring to know because I didn’t do so well on one test (also in Economics lol) and I’m pretty sure it decimated my grade in that class. I’m confident that I have As in all my other classes, but I was afraid that that one grade would end me.
