Barnard Transfers Fall 2013

If I were you tinydancer, I would just deposit at that school and then withdraw if Barnard offers you admission. It’s kind of cruel for students on the waiting list, but seriously, if Barnard is going to wait this long to let us know what else are we supposed to do?

To add to the confusion and conflicting messages, I just saw this on formspring:

“Will all transfer applicants hear by the 15th? and if not when’s the latest we would hear?
Yes.”

“do you guys release decisions (transfer) at any particular time of day? i keep checking my email every hour!
It won’t be long now.”

I am away from home for the next two weeks. If we get in will they still let us know of our admission decision online?

I just logged in to the admitted students portal and it says I can respond to their offer of admission…panicking slightly

waitlisted.

and I got my acceptance via email a minute ago!! good luck to everyone waiting on a decision

i was also waitlisted. does anybody know how likely it is to get off the waitlist?

waitlisted as well. Do they flat out reject anyone or just put everyone on the wait list?

Hello everyone. I started this thread so long ago and haven’t responded since! Just wanted to say I got my rejection e-mail just a couple of hours ago. Oh well! So to answer your question tinydancer, no they don’t put everyone on the waitlist, as I was flat out rejected (that’s okay though, I’ve already made my deposit to Smith so I’m not too disappointed)

Best of luck to everyone else!

congrats on smith that’s incredible!

I was flat out rejected to Barnard as well, just like I was when I applied ES last year :frowning: I was hoping for at least a spot on the wait list. At least I have one yes, from NYU, and I’m still waiting to hear from Northwestern.

accepted-not going good luck to the wait listed people

Waitlisted at Barnard and Brown in the same day! Yikes T_T

Congrats to those of you accepted!

Accepted, but going to Occidental instead, which was my top choice from the start. Hope one of you guys on the wait list gets my spot! Hopefully it will go to someone who really wants it, in the same way that I wanted Occidental :).

Also, for those of you who have other college decisions due in the next few days, it wouldn’t hurt to email Barnard and ask for a timeline on your decision specifically…I had a deposit due on May 15th for School A, but I knew that I would prefer to go to School B. When I emailed School B about the situation, they actually agreed to release my admission decision and financial aid award early, so that I could make a decision before the deadline. Policies on this probably vary from school to school, but you can always try.

Thank you Katay! Wish you all the best!

Katay, can I ask why you chose Oxy over Barnard? I think I’ve narrowed my choices down to these two, and I’m having a really hard time deciding.

I’m curious as well. I attended Occidental, but both of my daughters attended Barnard. I can see the appeal of both. Your choice of Oxy shows that you have given a lot of thought to this and what you want personally.
