Barrett college at Asu

Hi, I am a high school junior and I haven't taken the ACT or the SAT yet. I was curious if so far I have a chance. I have a 3.7 overall and I have been doing well this semster and that may go up to 3.8 or 3.9. I am from New York but my father lives in Arizona. That is a huge reason why I want to go to ASU. I am currently enrolled in a pretty good private school and in terms of advanced courses this year I'm taking:

A.P.U.S history
honors physics

Next year I will be taking
A.P government
College level physics
Pre-calculus (not really advanced but I will be receiving college credit for it)
possibly A.P english
French

My extracurricular activities are as follows:

Editor on the school paper
National Honor Society
Wrestling team
Play baseball outside of school
Concert Band
Marching Band
Jazz Band
Pit orchestra (for the school musical)
Volunteer for NYC marathon every year

I will be getting a nice amount of credits from S.U.N.Y, St. Johns, and Iona. I heard ASU is great with other credits from other schools.

I know a lot rests on my SAT and ACT (and trust me I have preparing extensively) scores but am I looking good so far?

Don’t mean to be annoying but does anyone have an idea.

keep taking rigorous classes and you should be fine. Take the SAT early so you have time to improve your score when it the time comes to submit your application. I heard that out-of-state applicants have a harder time getting in but I don’t know how much truth is actually behind that statement. Just apply early so that you have a better chance at getting in! I just got my acceptance letter about two weeks ago ( for Fall 2010) and I had talked to the Dean of Admissions and he said that admission into Barrett was getting more competitive. Barrett is getting a lot more popular with the new dorms (which are AMAZING). They only take about 720 incoming freshman a year ( I was surprised to hear this when I toured the campus!). And YES ASU is great about taking credits from other schools. I am graduating with more than 40 college credits (hopefully more from AP Spanish test…crossing my fingers!!) and just about all of them will transfer.

You are doing great. Keep up the good work and good luck!!
