Barrett, The Honors College Experience as a WUE Student

Hello! I have been admitted into Barrett for the class of 2021, but, before I decide which college I will attend this fall, I have a big question: If I go to Barrett as a WUE (out of state student) and the major I want to go into (Political Science) is not offered on the Tempe campus, will I still get the Barrett experience? (small class sizes, individualized attention, close-knit intellectual feel, social life?) I believe I would have to go to another campus like Polytechnic or West Campus to get my major requirements and I just don’t know if I will get the same experience that I have been told is one of the main benefits of going to Barrett.

You are mistaken. You can obtain either a BS or a BA in Political Science on the Tempe campus.

Thank you for your reply, mamaedafamilia. I have one more question: can you still get a Political Science BA or BS if you are a Western Undergraduate Exchange student?

Hello! I am looking at enrolling in Barrett but I am confused about class sizes. The website for Barrett claims that the student-faculty ratio is 15-1, but, if you get a honors contract doesn’t that mean that the class sizes won’t be small? Also, I am wondering how often can you fulfill the requirements for your major in honors-only classes? Right now I am planning on taking Political Science if that helps you answer any of these questions. Thank you!

Yes, you can do either on the Tempe campus. The other campuses (downtown Pheonix, polytechnic) have Barrett and honors housing. Political science will be at Tempe.

@collegeguurl135 according to the WUE website you cannot get a degree in Poly Sci at the Tempe Campus.

^ list of WUE degrees is pretty limited at Tempe. Fortunately automatic merit scholarships are generous and can equal WUE.

For WUE students, political science is at the west campus in Glendale.
