Barron Biology for 800?

Hey,
Is reading and studying Barrons Biology meticulously enough to get a 800 on the biology test?
one year of freshman biology taken and not yet AP

Yes

where could i get free practice tests?

Check the Princeton review or collegeboard site

where could i get the sparknote tests?

also are the petersons supposed to be incredibly hard

The sparknotes tests were not there when I was prepping. The collegeboard practice tests are scams; they have only released one exam, which is incredibly eaaasssssyyy (in the blue book). The collegeboard website is also full of really easy questions. Their strategy is to force you take it twice by making you think that the questions are easy and then bombing the actual test. My best advice is to just study out of the Barron’s; don’t even take a look at the Collegeboard material.

i read through barrons multiple times and i know everything in the book but im worried s ince i took some tests and have gotten as low 600 and im only able to a 710 on easy tests… am i studying wrongs… i usually finish with 20 minutes to spare i get most of the memorization questions but just mess up with graphs and labs stuff

Try to find the patterns in your mistakes when reviewing the old tests. If you are constantly messing up the graphs and labs, then try to find the patterns within those- what to look for, what to encircle, etc. The bio subject test doesn’t require a high level of logic; for those questions with the tables and graphs, you just need to keep in mind all of your knowledge regarding that area. For instance, if a series of questions are about genetics based on a set of data, keep in mind all of the patterns and ratios in your mind (i.e. sex linked, incomplete dominance and etc) while you are doing the questions. Interact with the test; cross out answers that don’t make sense and underline important pieces of information in order to arrive at the right answer. Hopefully that was helpful. Best of luck

Since they took quite a lot of material out for last year’s AP Bio and they didn’t change up the SAT Bio, would I still need to do some substantial studying for the SAT Bio test for June?

Yes you do actually. I remember there were a couple of questions about human physiology on the test that I would have screwed up on if it wasn’t for the Barron’s. I think that the Collegeboard knows that most people just take the SAT after AP bio and try to screw them up by including material that is not on the curriculum. That is why most of my friends who took the SAT bio right after the AP test (who did not prep with Barron’s) barely got in the 700’s.

seems like Barron is extremely good … i got both barrons and princeton… i understand and memorize more of barrons
