I am registered to take the GRE in a couple of months and have been studying solely from Barrons. It seems a bit harder than some Kaplan and Princeton Review questions that I glanced through.
Is Barrons the hardest of all the prep books (especially quantitative)? How does it compare to the real test?

In my experience, Barron’s is good to get the basics down, but you need to go beyond that if you’re aiming for 750+. Barron’s tests you on things that are easily traceable back to a concept- circumference, angles, etc. Some of the actual GRE questions aren’t so straight forward, they went beyond the concepts and required a lot more logic. No experience with Princeton review, but Kaplan’s book is a joke, and its CAT is a joke. The book is too easy (seriously, drill exercises on arithmetic?) and its CAT questions required wayyy too much calculation.

Thanks. Do you know of any good math prep books? I absolutely need to crack 750.

I used Nova’s math bible & nova’s gre course (for the math only) and got a 800Q. I’m not saying that those books were the sole reason for my score, but I think they helped tremendously. However, I’ve always been in one of those gifted+talented programs for math and science, and have always been good at math (not trying to show off, but this is just some background). The questions in Nova are very long winded, some are almost impossible, and many will take lots and lots of calculations. The book also takes a very long time to adequately complete and learn form, since there are hundreds of practice problems. I would suggest you use the book to work on your weak spots. Go through the geometry chapter if anything. Then make sure you do the probability/sequences section- those types of problems were barely covered in kaplan & barron’s.

I agree with JHUery. Get the [Nova Math prep](http://www.amazon.com/GRE-Math-Prep-Course-Novas/dp/1889057592/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294980521&sr=8-1) book. I used it and I got a 800Q.

You should also practice with some CATs to get used to the test. It’s best to spend extra time on the first 10-15 problems since they affect your final score a lot. I recommend you do both PowerPrep exams as a diagnostics before studying to assess your ability on the test. Then do them again a day or two before the real test.

Thanks guys. I just ordered the book. Hopefully two months of cramming will suffice.
