Barron's is impossible! Math IIC

How hard exactly is the Math level 2 sat II test?
I've always been pretty good at math, but Barron's tests- well, I'm scoring about 37/50. Also, there book has ridiculously tricky answers to just about every question. So I solve it correctly, then choose a wrong answer, which is just about the limit!
Is Barron's supposed to be extra hard? ANy other books I can use?

It’s in October, so some quick feedback…

Barrons is all-around notoriously difficult. I would stick with Kaplan. That’s usually pretty accurate.

Go for Princeton Review - it’s easier and closer to the real test. I got a 670 on the Barron’s diagnostic and a 760 on the real thing, just for comparison. PR I got a 720 on the practice, so much closer.

Don’t ever use Barron’s. It’s always way harder than the real thing, and pretty different in style as well.
Aside from CollegeBoards own practice tests, I find PR to be the most huseful and accurate…sometimes Kaplan, although I’m not a huge fan.

Thanks!
Barron’s is scary. I mean, I got 750 on Sat I, and now my scores seem to be plummeting…

Yeah. I was shocked to get a 610; only half of the questions right! Lot of people say that by doing the overly hard Barron’s problems the real test feels like a walk in the park. Many reviewers on Amazon say that they got 800s after getting 650s on Barron’s practice test. I’m gonna stick with Barron’s and see what happens.

I studied with Barrons for the Math IIC. My diagnostic was a 560, after studying from the book I was scoring 650-670, and got a 780 on the real test. I would NOT recommend Barrons for any other subject test, but it’s good for Math IIC because it teaches you to do harder problems in the time you have so on the actual test you will have a lot of time left over. The problems are harder than the ones on the test, but they are from the same mathematical concept. Other Barrons test books feature irrelevant questions that will not appear on tests (for example Literature).

If you expect to get every answer right, why did you buy a prep book in the first place?

Read the threads in the subject tests section - Barron’s is the way to go for Math II.
