Barrons or PR?

im in the market for SAT prep books and i was wonder which one is the most effective (or toughest) prep book. I want something that doesn't sugar-coat the test.

HELP!?! PLEASE!
THANKS!

Princeton Review! :P

did it work for u?

I have the PR book and I really like it. It makes a lot of fun of the test, pokes holes in it, has good strategies for beating the built-in traps. From what a lot of people here say, the PR tests are closer to the real thing than Barron's, which seems to be unusually hard.

PR isn't easier than the SAT is it? cuz i really need something to measure my capabilities and for me, hard is better than easy

Barron for beginners, it has explanations for each problem.
after Barron, get the blue book, its more like the actual SAT

Princeton review

i have barrons and its good, its helped me understand and comprehend the material a lot better, and barron's winnows out all of the difficult questions which will help you if your looking to do better on the more complicated questions. I suggest you get Barron's 2400 and Barron's hot words for the sat....they really help.

I think PR is easier than Barrons.
P.S. Using Kaplan and the blue book together may be a good idea. Our teacher strongly recommend the writing sections on Kaplan.

Start off with PR then work on Barrons.

I've used both extensively, for AP, SAT subject, and regular SAT. I'd have to say Barron is definitely harder, sometimes to the point that doing some of the practice problems are near pointless, since you won't get them on the real thing. Princeton Review is more accurate (albeit easier), which good explanations and tips. I'd recommend Princeton Review altogether, but if you're only looking for hard, go for Barron.

Have you also looked at Sparknotes study guides? They're no bad either.

hmm i'll consider it. thanks
any tips on studying?
any success stories?

I think everything is easier than Barron's!

PR is great for tips and techniques, but I think Barron's is better because it's so tough on you and gets you really prepared.

Barrons is tougher -- but I'd just go with the Bluebook (seeing as it's actually published by collegeboard)

so would u guys say that a CB practice test score is reminiscent of ur actual SAT score potential
