Anyone heard anything on the decisions? Long weekend for those kids that have been nominated and are waiting! D. was hoping they they would post decisions this past Thurs. or Fri. Guess it really will be LATE March…down to the last 2 days next week!
Nothing yet. Our son is waiting too. It was posted on the Goldwater Scholar site on March 21, a Friday, last year which got some people hoping that “late March” could mean that the online announcement would be a around that time this year. It appears that the suspense will be over either Monday or Tuesday.
When I got it 2 years ago, I found out on Friday March 29. They can wait until the bitter end sometimes. Best of luck to those waiting!
Incidentally, last year the lists were “leaked” early. Though they were not directly accessible on the website list of links, they could be accessed by playing around with the URL address. This doesn’t seem to work this year for Scholars, but it can be done with the Honorable Mentions. So you can view half of the results now. Go to a previous year’s Honorable Mention list and change the year to 2015 in the URL. Or just follow the link below.

Looks like 3 people from my school got Honorable Mention. Definitely disappointed on behalf of one guy I know well. 
Ahhh…guess it will be the VERY last day of March this year. I heard that they had delays initially because of computer glitches during the submission of applications and letters of recommendation. Good luck to everyone who has been nominated!!

Does anyone know if Goldwater emails Faculty Reps/Students prior to releasing the website? Or is checking the website the quickest way to find out?
you are supposed to be notified by email and they also list it on the web site. There is debate (reading past CC postings) about whether or not the Faculty Reps are notified in advance.
I wouldn’t expect email notification. I received the award last year, but got no official notification via email from them. So you really just have to keep checking the website until the list goes up. I’m not sure about if the Faculty Reps get notified or not, though.
Email notification goes out, I think - but loooong after the list is posted. I first found out from an email sent by my fellowship advisor. She was checking the website and saw it. I had actually completely forgotten results would be coming out. I don’t think reps are notified ahead of time.
Just looked at my old emails - never got an email about it. They just eventually sent paper stuff to my home address.
I too was not mentioned honorably, nor was my other friend at the school. So either we got it or we just got crushed by the competition haha. This delay is pretty odd, though. I wonder how many people applied when there are 299 on that list?
I also was not honorably mentioned. It does strike me strange that one of them is up and the other is not. Oh well, the anxiety should end tomorrow! Good luck to everyone!

Damn, nothing. The other guy from my school got it. I’m honestly pretty surprised. I don’t know how my package could have been much better, but I guess the competition just had that extra edge somehow. Eh, time to move on
There’s definitely a component of sheer luck involved as well.
Yep, no doubt. As great as he is, I don’t think the other kid from my school is any more impressive than me. But he and the other winners and honorable mentions are all total badasses, so I’m happy for them.
