does a lot of the penn social scene revolve around bars and clubs?

no, frats mostly and maybe bars and clubs for juniors/seniors w/ money

Sometimes a school group will rent out a club downtown and then you get a large amount of Penn people to go. That's fun to get the atmosphere of clubbing without the shady clubber people.

There's a lot of variety. I think Penn is in a unique position to offer variety here because it is in a unique position of having a formidable on-campus party system and the resources of a real city.

You must remember that Philly is similar to Boston.....a BIG college town. You can see lots of folks out clubbing and not all of them are Penn but there are many students. Does that help? Arts colleges here, music conservatory so there are a variety of student types......and yes groups do rent out clubs.

Big college town indeed.
120,000 students within the city limits, and 300,000 in the metro area.

Campus Philly (.org) is a great resource for those seeking to do things in Philadelphia, and see what other college folk are up to.

Whats the alcohol enforcement like in the dorms?

I imagine on paper it's something like "don't do it unless you're 21"

Meanwhile, back on Earth, it all depends on your RA. They range from being alcohol fascists to being willing to buy alcohol for you...so yeah, bit of a wide range

so if my RA is the president of madd, i can go down a story and (absolutely not) have a glass?

Yes.....you can do exactly that. One thing to remember.....if you don't act a fool nothing is an issue. The world here is pretty grown up. The Goose itself is not the problem.......Geese run in a pack and there in ...well you know that crowd think.
