Based on this info, when should I send my apps?

So, I've selected four colleges (Vandy, Bucknell, UVA, U of R) to send apps too. I chose them for my SAT I/II recipients (I'm taking the SAT I in Oct. 4, and two SAT IIs in Nov. 1) so I have that covered. I have a transcript from college courses I've taken (I'm a homeschooled senior fyi), but I'm currently taking one of the the five courses. I'm not too sure about this, but should I have the community college send my transcript to my four colleges, or should I copy it and send it with the packages? Also, teacher recs. My doctor will write me a rec, and I think my bio prof will also write me a rec. The staff from the hospital I work at might also write me a rec letter. (This is all jumbled up but this IS my first time sending college apps, you know!) So far, do I have everything right?

One thing that is KILLING me is recs. I am truly lost on when to ask for them, how the whole thing works (do I send them a form? if so, where do I get the form from? remember, I'm HSed so I don't have access to school stuff.). Is it okay if the recs are sent before my application? I'm going to send my application around December 10, so at least I'll know what my SAT/ACT scores are). So far, am I on track? Thank you to anyone who helps me with this.

Send official transcripts from your CC to each college (not copies).

The 2 teacher recs are just that, recs from instructors that have taught you in a core academic subject. You bio prof would be fine. Does your doctor know you in an academic capacity, if not, they would not be an appropriate rec? The staff from the hospital might be alright for a supplemental rec, but not for 1 of the 2 academic recs.

All your schools except UVA use the Common Application which has a teacher rec form to download. UVA will have a form on their admissions website.

It doesn’t matter what is sent first, colleges will start a file for you and add all of the parts of your application as they come in.

entomom, I was unable to find a form on the UVA website. I did, however, come across this page [U.Va. Office of Admission > Admission Information > Applying to U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/apply.html) which, if you scroll down to the “For First-Year Applicants”, says that applicants should use the Common App. If you find a link for a UVA rec form, please send it to me. Also, I’m going to assume that different colleges have their own requirements for rec letters, right? If not, please let me know. (I’m trying as hard as I can to figure this all out, but it’s alot of info!) Thanks so much!

PS: You’re post was VERY helpful! Greatly appreciated.

Ah ha, I just learned something! I was assuming that UVA had their own application since state schools usually do, but you’re right, they use the CA, just like your other schools.

No, schools use the CA do not have different requirements for recs, you will follow the CA instructions for all of them (unless stated otherwise in their supplement).

Good luck!

I think you might want to ask this in the Homeschooling forum. The people there probably have more experience with this sort of thing and could help you.
